Dry Eyes

Experiencing dry eye can be more than just a minor inconvenience; it may lead to notable discomfort and disrupt your daily routines due to visual disturbances.

If you are have persistent symptoms of dry eye, we encourage to schedule a comprehensive eye examination today. These symptoms may include:

  • Stinging, burning, or scratching sensations
  • Feeling of grittiness or sandiness, akin to having something in the eye
  • Stringy mucus in or around the eyes
  • Blurred vision
  • Sensitivity to light
  • Difficulty wearing contact lenses
  • Eye fatigue
  • Periodic excessive tearing

During your visit, our eye specialist will assess your symptoms, review your medical history, and discuss any medications you're currently taking that could contribute to the condition. We'll examine your eyelids, evaluate your blink patterns, and inspect the cornea for any abnormalities. Additionally, we'll investigate environmental factors that might exacerbate dry eye and conduct diagnostic tests to assess the quantity and quality of your tears.

The treatment plan prescribed by our office will be tailored to the severity of your symptoms and any underlying conditions. The primary goal is to alleviate eye discomfort, alleviate dryness, and safeguard your eye health by replenishing tears adequately. While artificial tears and soothing ointments are effective in many cases, more advanced or unresponsive instances may require alternative approaches. This could involve anti-inflammatory eye drops or oral medications, tear-stimulating medications, or procedures to conserve tears and prevent their drainage. In certain situations, specialized lenses or goggles may be recommended to maintain moisture in your eyes.
